Target Industries

Manufacturing

Our central location in the heart of east Alabama provides a labor force of over 75,000 workers from a 45-mile radius covering seven counties. Clay County is already home to several major manufacturing companies including Wellborn Cabinets, Inc., Koch Foods, Tru-Wood Cabinets, John-Co Truss Company, Integrity Cabinets, Three-Dimension Woodcraft, Lace Wood, Inc., Higgins Embroidery, and Cheaha Cabinets. Our two industrial parks offer building options and rail access.

Forestry & Wood Products

Clay County is situated in a prime location for economic expansion in Forestry and Wood Products industries. Eighty percent of our county is forestland, therefore making it a desirable location for these industries. With CSX rail access in the county, we are currently looking for properties with the potential to install rail spurs for additional benefit. Much of our workforce is employed and skilled in wood harvesting; therefore you won’t have to leave our county to gain access to a qualified workforce. As construction favors wood structures, Clay County would be an ideal location to consider when planning for a Forest and Wood Product manufacturing facility.

Retail

Looking for entrepreneurial success? Our county is home to two community-centric towns that support local small businesses. With the expansion of recreation opportunities and people seeking to live and visit more rural areas, retail endeavors are a demand by those who live and visit Clay County. Thousands of visitors travel through and stay in Clay County for our many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, road tours, and fishing. Conveniently located around major metropolitan areas, there is no shortage of those traveling through, or to Clay County, making it a smart choice for retail endeavors.
